Created in response to the theme of repetition, Bugly draws from Harth-Bedoya's experience recovering from her diagnoses of anorexia and orthorexia nervosa at age 17.
Bugly is a large-scale mixed media sculpture that explores how repetition can create positive change. Throughout the piece, black duct tape is used to cover and obscure numbers, referencing her effort to stop associating food with numerical values during recovery. The repeated layering and blocking out of information reflects the repetitive work of recovery and the gradual process of forming healthier habits. The sculpture represents how consistent actions, practiced over time, can help rebuild a life beyond an eating disorder.
