Through personal travel across Asia and her ongoing study of the Korean language, Elisa Harth-Bedoya became interested in the influence of corporate culture within many Asian societies. These observations inspired Can I?, a work that explores the tension between corporate adulthood and childlike playfulness.
Contrasting muted routines with bright colors, toys, and soft forms, the piece questions whether joy, curiosity, and self-expression can coexist with the expectations of adult life, or if they are gradually left behind with age.
